I had a lovely dinner at Buca Osteria and Bar in Yorkville over this weekend. Went in when they just opened so the place was nice and quiet except for hustling and bustling of waiters getting ready. The address online is quite misleading since their main entrance is beside the Four Seasons not on Scollard St. The interior is designed with sleek and modern furnishing. Everything ordered was plated to perfection. During my visit I ordered the Salumi Di Mare (cured fish) and Ostriche (market oysters) to start, my favourite was the Capesanta Affumicata. It had a really unique flavour. The other options were quite dry. The oysters were fresh but I didn’t really enjoy the pairing with pickled ramp and olive oil.

What really shined was their main course. They make most if not all their pastas. Their gnocchi was by far the best that I had, it was perfectly made and evenly cooked without feeling doughy. The gnocchi was made with rabbit meat. My first time eating rabbit, tasted a lot like chicken. My last dish was the Merluzzo Nero which is black cod, seared with corn meal served with pencetta and acqua pazza. The dish was amazing, the black cod and vegetables were cooked just right, not over cooked or raw. The dish provided the right amount of fish and sauce went really well with the black cod and it had a little kick to it.

All in all I had a great time at Buca! This was my first time going and it was for my birthday and would definitely go back on another special occasion. I would definitely recommend people to try out their pasta dishes, it was a definite highlight. I would like to try their pizza in my next visit.
